Quality
Committed to Quality
Quality is not just a checkpoint. It is built into everything we do.
At Elcoteq Assemblies, our Quality team is driven by one uncompromising commitment: Zero Defect Escape. Every PCB assembly undergoes a systematic, multi-stage inspection process designed to identify, prevent, and eliminate defects at every stage of production, ensuring that only products meeting our stringent quality standards reach our customers. Our commitment goes beyond meeting specifications. We strive to understand our customers' requirements, prevent defects at source and continuously improve our processes, people and systems.
Quality Built Into Every Stage
Zero Defect Escape: How Our Quality Team Works Like a Net
At Elcoteq Assemblies, our Quality team works with one unwavering rule: no defect is ever allowed to reach the customer. Every board that passes through our facility moves through a series of inspection stages designed to work exactly like a fisherman's net — cast wide, layered, and tightly woven, so that nothing unwanted slips through to the other side.
1. The Philosophy: Quality as a Net, Not a Checkpoint
A single inspection point is like a single strand of thread — a defect only has to slip past it once. A net is different. It is woven from many overlapping strands, so that whatever escapes one knot is caught by the next. That is how our Quality team operates.
Just as a fish caught in a net cannot find its way back to open water no matter which direction it turns, a defective board entering our production line cannot find a path to the customer. Every stage — from the moment raw material arrives to the moment a finished board is packed — is a knot in that net, and every member of the Quality team is personally responsible for tightening it.
2. Multi-Layer Inspection Process
Our quality system is built on seven interlocking checkpoints, each targeting a different class of defect. A board must pass every single one before it is cleared for shipment.
| Stage | Purpose | What It Catches |
|---|---|---|
| Incoming Material Inspection (IQC) | Verify raw PCBs & components before they enter the line | Wrong parts, damaged reels, out-of-spec substrates |
| SMT Placement Monitoring | Real-time check during component placement | Misplacement, tombstoning, missing components |
| AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) | 100% optical scan of every board post-reflow | Solder bridges, insufficient solder, polarity errors |
| X-Ray Inspection | Sees beneath BGA/QFN packages | Hidden voids, opens, and lifted leads |
| ICT / Functional Testing | Confirms the board performs as designed | Electrical faults, shorts, functional failures |
| Final Visual & Manual QC | Trained-eye inspection of every unit | Cosmetic defects, mechanical issues, labeling errors |
| Outgoing Quality Audit (OQC) | Last checkpoint before packing | Any residual non-conformance, documentation gaps |
3. The Team Behind the Net
Automated systems — AOI, X-ray, and ICT — form the backbone of our inspection process, and they work tirelessly, without fatigue, on every single unit. But behind every machine stands a trained inspector who understands that data alone doesn't catch everything. A hesitation in a solder fillet, a faint shadow under a component, a slightly inconsistent label — these are the things a vigilant eye notices even when a system reports a pass.
Our Quality team does not treat inspection as a formality. They treat it as a personal responsibility: once a board is in their hands, they will not let it move forward until they are certain it is right. That mindset — refusing to let anything questionable pass, no matter the schedule pressure — is what has kept our field-return rate low and our customer relationships strong.
4. Why This Matters to Our Customers
● Every board is verified at seven independent stages before it ships — not just tested once and assumed correct.
● Defects are caught and contained inside our facility, where they can be analyzed and corrected — never in the field, where they become costly failures.
● Root cause analysis and corrective action are standard practice, not a reaction only taken after a complaint.
● Our team's culture of ownership means quality is everyone's job, not just the final inspector's.
5. Conclusion
A net only works if every knot holds. At Elcoteq, our Quality team treats every inspection stage — automated or manual — as one of those knots, woven tightly enough that a defect has nowhere left to go. This is not a slogan; it is the working discipline of our production floor, day in and day out, on every single board we build.
Incoming Quality Control
Components and materials are verified against defined specifications to ensure that only approved and conforming materials enter production.
Process Control
Manufacturing processes are controlled through documented procedures, work instructions and defined inspection points. Critical parameters are monitored to maintain consistency.
In-Process Inspection
Quality checks are integrated throughout production to identify and address potential issues at the earliest possible stage
Testing & Verification
Products are subjected to appropriate inspection and testing based on customer requirements and product specifications.
Final Inspection
Before dispatch, finished assemblies are verified to ensure conformity with applicable specifications and customer requirements.
Traceability
We maintain appropriate records throughout the manufacturing process to support product traceability, accountability and effective problem solving.
Prevention, Not Just Detection
Our focus is simple:
Identify → Prevent → Control → ImproveCustomer-Focused Quality
